Finding the Right Florist for Your Wedding

When it comes to your overall event design, your wedding florals are likely going to play a big role! And for this reason, this vendor decision is important. Your florals help set the tone for the design of your wedding day, and we love working with our couples to help identify the perfect vendor match for their vision and budget.

You might be thinking: “The flowers just die… why spend a large portion of our budget on the blooms?”

While the physical flowers do in fact start to wilt the next day, they live on forever in your photography. If you’ve invested in your photography then you will want to invest in your wedding florals and event design as well – otherwise the photos may tell a story that doesn’t align with the vision you had always dreamed of.

Your bouquet in particular is one of your most unique accessories; no one will ever have a similar bouquet to YOURS. It truly is such an important part of your day – and you want it to be a reflection of the time and attention and overall care you put into the selection of your wedding design.

There are 5 things to consider when researching floral companies for your wedding day:

  • Florist Portfolio & Style

While most experienced florists will likely be able to create anything you are dreaming of, you will be able to get a feel for a florist’s most loved style in the images they choose to showcase on their website. This is often a reflection of what they love.

Be sure to check out their website, their Instagram page, and their Facebook page to see photos of the work they share & make sure it resonates with you & your style.

  • Florist Personality

Along with looking at their work, you also want to get to know the personality of the florist! Do you resonate with them on Instagram Stories? Do you like what they say on their website About Page? Getting to know the person behind the business is just as important as their work.

  • Florist Experience

This one may be a little more challenging to tease apart from their portfolio but here are a few ways to evaluate their experience. Take a look for the following:

  • A variety of weddings with different size florals
  • A variety of venues
  • A variety of wedding sizes

You can also see if they have done an event at your venue, or of a similar size to your wedding day.

  • Vendor Recommendations

Ask your vendor team for recommendations of florists – they will also be able to provide insight on how the florists executed the details on the day of the event  (as many will have likely seen them pulling together the final looks)

  1. Reviews

Be sure to use reviews to help you identify how successful the florist was with delivering on the promises made. Check reviews on Google, Wedding Wire, The Knot and their website.
