Our Past Can Powerfully Influence Our Future

I haven’t always known what I wanted to be when I grew up. Truthfully, I’ve always enjoyed a wide variety of things (a great story for another newsletter)

But one commonality amongst everything I have know and done throughout my life has been a deep appreciation of learning, reading, writing, and creating.

 Education – in all forms – is powerful.

I am beyond grateful for the educational experiences I’ve ad – my undergraduate experience it’s one I wouldn’t trade and one I never take for granted.

The culture, ideals, and values encouraged and cultivated at Villanova are central to the person I am today and are reminders of who I am continuously striving to be. The dedication of the professors. The immersion experiences. The hard work and long hours. All played significant roles in defining who I am.

It’s what happened in the years (graduate school and joining the traditional workforce) after that I wish I would have known then what I know today.

However, there is something beautiful in pivoting, changing paths and letting your previous career and education inform so much of what you do today. This is exactly what I’ve done over the past almost 6 years.

I’ve used every aspect of my educational and career experiences to create, build, cultivate a business and a life that I love.

My business mindset began from a place of running away but after a year of reflection its radically shifted to a place of running towards.
